It can also cause difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distension and constipation.
Any customers experiencing any of these symptoms have been told by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to seek immediate medical attention.
What To KnowThe products affected by the recall include:
The products were distributed to Tokyo Central and Marukai stores located in California. A full list of stores can be found on the FDA recall notice.
The FDA said that the products lacked the required "keep refrigerated" labels, which could have led to hazardous bacterial growth if they were stored at room temperature.
The agency warned consumers not to consume the products, even if they do not look or smell spoiled. No illnesses had been reported as of Monday.
The FDA noted that it only takes a few micrograms of the toxin to cause illness in a healthy adult.
What People Are SayingAKT Trading Inc. Said in the recall notice published by the FDA: "AKT Trading Inc. Is committed to the safety and quality of its products and is taking this action out of an abundance of caution. We are cooperating fully with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on this matter."
