NY Jets should avoid veteran cornerback Josh Norman like the plague - The Jet Press

The NY Jets should steer clear of veteran cornerback Josh Norman in free agency. Here's why signing him would be a horrible idea for the team.

On March 16 the legal tampering period begins for NFL teams which allows them to contact, and enter into contract negotiations with players that will become free agents. While on March 18 at 4:00 p.m. officially kicks off NFL free agency and the new league year.

If any player is released by his team ahead of that date however, they can sign with a ballclub whenever they please.

That list now includes veteran cornerback Josh Norman. On Friday morning Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported that the Washington Redskins were moving on from the high-priced veteran to save some cap space ($12.5 million).

Now Norman is allowed to visit NFL teams and eventually sign a contract if and when he pleases. Before people start connecting the dots between the NY Jets and Josh Norman, let me stop you right there. No thanks.

Norman is 32 years old (will turn 33 during the upcoming 2020 NFL season) and is simply washed up.

In four seasons with the Redskins, Josh started in 53 out of 64 possible games.

Throughout his tenure with Washington more times than not he was on the wrong end of some big-time receptions. As a matter of fact late last season he was performing so poorly that the team benched him. In the final six games of the season, he only played in two games (10 total snaps).

Quite frankly Josh Norman just isn't the same player anymore that he was with the Carolina Panthers when they reached Super Bowl 50 thanks to his shut down abilities.

Here's another thing to keep in mind, Norman's best season came back in 2015 under then Panthers' head coach Ron Rivera. Following that season he got cut. Fast-forward four years later and Rivera gets hired by Washington as their new head coach and one of his first moves is to cut Josh Norman again.

If Rivera passed on him twice and he knows him best, why the heck should the NY Jets dive in? Spoiler alert, they shouldn't.

Coronavirus Has Europe Treating Chinese People Like the Plague - The Daily Beast

ROME—The sign taped to the glass door of a popular gelateria in front of Rome's iconic Trevi Fountain is perfectly clear, and perfectly ugly. Written in both Chinese and English, it states what pretty much everyone in a country of hypochondriacs and the rest of Europe is thinking: "Due to international safety measures, all people coming from China are not allowed to have access to this place." The writer then apologizes for any inconvenience.
